Our tips

COSTS
Remember that paving and driveway materials are usually only a small part of the overall cost of your paving project, especially if you are employing a builder or landscape gardener to carry out the work.

PLANNING
Think carefully about the current and the future needs of your family – try to avoid creating permanent bespoke areas or features that may have a limited shelf life and will be difficult to adapt later.
Drainage is another important consideration when planning a new paving project.

ADDING INTEREST
Paving and edging can be used to create attractive features, such as steps, pathways or a rotunda. Paving can also create visually distinct parts of a garden – for a BBQ, play area or water feature, for example.

BLENDING STYLES
Consider the style of your property/surrounding area and try to select paving and driveway materials that complement existing brickwork, render or stone masonry. Often, a contrasting shade rather than an exact match works better.

SOFTENING PAVED AREAS
Creative planting schemes, curved edges or using a mixture of paving/edging types, shapes or sizes can all help to soften an area of paving.

SELECTING MATERIALS
Choose materials that work well for the scale of your scheme. For example, our rustic brick or weathered cobble paving work well for a small courtyard effect, whereas our Ascot range of paving would be better suited to use for a large impactful terrace.

ADDING VALUE
Beautiful paving will add value as well as enjoyment, so, even if you decide to sell up, you will still reap the rewards of your investment.
